As an independent practitioner, I am a member of different organised citizen groups, working to strengthen collective ownership of the city and shape our own work, housing, neighbourhoods, and community spaces.

When I speak about community and cooperatives in my projects, I mean the following. For me, a community has members and boundaries. People have something concrete in common. They may do activities together, meet regularly or organise themselves in some way. Sometimes a community group chooses to formalise this by establishing a cooperative. A cooperative is a legal form based on shared ownership and democratic governance. Its members jointly own what they have in common, for example a building or a business.
